Every year, sheep and goats are brought to the event by Naumann Angoras and The Sheepwalk Ranch. This gives us a variety of fleece to work from and Chloe O'Rourke is our Shearer. In 2023 we figured out that one pound is not enough so we will be putting a couple fleece on the table for "in the grease" processing. Breeds on the table: Leicester Longwool, Hampshire X, Finn and Jacob.
Below is your team entry form. Entry is free. Winning teams will receive ribbons for their placement and prizes from our sponsor Unicorn Clean.
1 - On the Loom
1 - Processing / Spinning
4 - On the wheel
Works best if team mates can change roles to get a break from spinning. Max 6 per team.
Last year it was Greased Lightning vs. The Lano-Lynns. What will your team theme be? Themes make us laugh which keeps the competition fun!
Shearing starts at 9 am and to keep things light hearted we will agree to hit the start button no later than 9:35 am. Team mates can help bring the wool back to the Homestead. Each team will get one pound of each fleece on the table. Processing is on the team.
If you or one of your team mates plan on shearing a "team sheep" then let us know in the q & a section. If we get more than one shearer then we can update the rules to reflect the wool options. Shearers must provide their own equipment.
The Homestead is located centrally in the Show Barn.
Teams can decide what they want to do with their finished piece.
