TMIWW Sewing Contest 2024

Make it With Wool is an annual youth centered sewing competition to promote the beauty and versatility of wool and mohair fabrics, yarns, and fibers. It encourages personal creativity in sewing, knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, and other needlework arts. We also host a “Texas Only” Fiber Arts Competition that encompasses other skills including sewing, felting, weaving, knitting arts and more. PRIZES for Pre-teen - Adult

All contestants receive wool fabric from TMIWW and Pendleton Woolen Mills in Portland, Oregon.

• Pre-Teen Winner receives $150.

• Junior and Senior Winners Receive a $300 stipend at Nationals for contest expenses.

• The Adult Winner receives $300 cash and submits an electronic entry to the National Contest. Only the first place winner attends the National competition.

The National MIWW Competition is January 15 – 18, 2025 – Scottsdale, AZ

$50 awards are given for:

• Best Use of Mohair (receives mohair fabric from Designs by Dolores)

• Best in Knit/Crochet (also receives yarn from The Sheepwalk Ranch)

• Best in Construction (also receives a $25 gift card to Hobby Lobby)

• First Place Wearable Accessory

• First Place Made for Others

$500 college scholarships are available to one 2024 contestant who will be attending college in the 2025 school year; awarded by the Hill Country Sheep and Goat Org., TSGRA and TMIWW.

HOW TO ENTER

Return the entry form and mail with material samples:

• Three (3) 5” x 5” samples of each wool fabric

• Three (3) 24” long samples of each yarn

• $15 entry fee for each entry in all divisions. Entries are complete ensembles: 1 to 3 pieces.

• Testing is free for all fabric or yarn for each entry in 2024.

YOUR ENTRY IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT ALL INFORMATION, FABRIC SAMPLES AND ENTRY FEES.

• TMIWW is not responsible for late, mis-directed or lost entries.

• To be eligible, a garment must have been completed after January 1, 2024.

• We will also have the traditional entry form online. New entries mean new form submissions. Use a separate form for each additional entry, ie “made for others.”

• Entry fees are non-refundable.

• Deadline for completed Garments is date of event between 7:30 - 9:00 am.
